Matt is a General Practitioner and an experienced provider of medicine in remote environments all over the world. Matt combines his work as a GP in the NHS with providing medical support as a consultant to organisations from many different industry sectors. These roles involve advising on all aspects of travel safety and medical care. This may include: pre-departure screening and training, provision of medications, assessment of local medical facilities, evacuation planning and the delivery of direct care, either on the ground or via telemedicine.
Matt has provided medical care to his patients all over the globe, including in deserts, the arctic and at very high altitude. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, as well as the UK Medical Director of the WEMSI – International Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician course – the most advanced medical course of its kind in Europe.
Before training in medicine, Matt worked for the Ministry of Defence in counter terrorism and contingency planning. This involved helping co-ordinate multi-agency response to terrorist incidents in the UK. Matt served as a commando in the Army Reserve for 12 years.
